GSU Course Override Request Portal
The GSU Course Override Request Portal can help you address the following registration issues for any GSU course:
- You received the Prerequisite and Test Score Error when attempting to register, however you MEET the prerequisite requirement. You will need to upload a screenshot of your test score or unofficial transcript to confirm that you meet the prerequisite.
- You received the Prerequisite and Test Score Error when attempting to register, however you DO NOT MEET the prerequisite requirement, but would like to request an exception. Note that departments are not obligated to approve prerequisite exception requests.
- The course section requires department or instructor permission to register (Academic Department Restricts error message). If you received prior approval to register, be sure to upload a screenshot of the instructor/department approval email to your request.
- You received a duplicate course restriction and you would like to request a waiver- this pertains to topics courses that have the same course subject and number. Some require a special waiver to allow you to enroll in more than one.
- You received a time conflict error message. Note that you must obtain permission from both instructors of the impacted courses before submitting your request. You will be required to upload a screenshot of the permission emails.
For other registration issues, visit the University Registrar's Office website.
Course Repeat Errors
Repeat errors ('course may only be taken twice without special approval' error message in PAWS): The portal does not allow for 'repeat error' waiver submissions.
Math Repeat Limit: All MATH 1111, 1113, and 2211 repeat errors mean you must submit a University-level petition to take the course at third time ('W' grades count as attempts').
Access the Math Repeat Limit Petition
Biology 3800 & 3810 Repeat Errors: Students get 2 attempts to earn a C or better in BIOL 3800 and BIOL 3810.
W Grades: 'W' grades DO NOT count as attempts. If one or more of your BIOL 3800 attempts was a 'W', you can submit a request through the GSU Override Portal:
- Select the 'prerequisite' restriction.
- In your rationale, please state that you attempted the course twice and at least one grade is a 'W'.
Earned C- or lower in both attempts: If you earned a C- grade or lower in both attempts, you must submit a petition to take the course again. As you prepare your appeal, please take note of the following:
1.) The Associate Chair, to whom the appeal should be addressed, is Dr. Zehava Eichenbaum ([email protected]).
2.) There are some specific items that need to be addressed in the appeal. Please be sure, especially, to communicate about the impact of this situation, why the solution/resolution should be granted (item 2 b and d) as well as the circumstances that led to this situation (item 4.a). All of the requested information is important, but these items are particularly important.
3.) If there is any supplemental documentation that will help the committee to understand the circumstances of the appeal, please send those as well and include in your explanation how they demonstrate the need for the appeal to be upheld.
