For Drop-In Appointments
Our office hosts daily 15 minute drop-in advisement sessions to meet with an academic advisor:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday afternoons from 2:30-4 p.m.
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 9:30-11 a.m.

About Senior Advisement
The Office of Academic Assistance (OAA) advises undergraduates in the College of Arts and Sciences with 90 or more credits. To schedule a virtual advisement appointment you can do so via Navigate.
OAA advisors assist students with:
- Selecting courses and planning schedules
- Identifying tutorial programs and academic resources
- Evaluating degree requirements and time frame for graduation
- Understanding remaining requirements through graduation audits
- Interpreting university policies and regulations
Department undergraduate directors are available to consult with students on recommended courses, tutorial programs, signature experiences (e.g., internships, research, study abroad), and careers).
Frequently Asked Questions
Contacting & Appointments with Advisors
The best and quickest way to contact your advisor is via an appointment. You can also email your advisor. Please include your name and Panther ID in all correspondence, and allow up to 72 business hours for a response.
Advisors are available via phone at 404-413-5000. If your advisor is unable to answer your call, please leave a detailed voicemail, including your name, panther ID and a good call back number and your advisor will get in touch with you within 24 business hours.
For appointments, contact will be made through WebEx. A link to your advisor's WebEx will be sent along with your appointment confirmation when appointment is scheduled.

You can easily schedule an appointment with your academic advisor by logging onto the Navigate Student mobile app or the Navigate webpage at: gsu.navigate.eab.com. If you are unable to schedule an appointment on Navigate, please call our front desk at 404-413-5000.
Each advisement appointment is slotted for 1/2 half and provided based on availability. Same-day, 15-minute appointments are only available during late registration week.
You can email the document to the advisor for signature, after which the advisor will email the document back to you.
Registration & Holds Assistance
This indicates that the section is reserved for a specific cohort. You will need to select a section that is not reserved for a specific cohort. You can utilize the course schedule to easily discern sections that are reserved and sections that are not (see the ‘comments’ column):
- Click here for the course schedule. Once you select your subject, click on the course title, and then click the ‘restrictions’ tab to see if restrictions have been placed.
You can email your advisor or to schedule a virtual appointment with your advisor- visit: gsu.navigate.eab.com. Please note for AIP holds: you will need to complete the AIP form online with your advisor in order to have your advising hold moved.

You will need to contact your advisor or schedule a virtual appointment with your advisor- visit: gsu.navigate.eab.com to discuss the option and seeing if you are eligible for cross-level registration at our Perimeter College campus and to fill out the cross-level form.
Work with your transient institution regarding their admissions process and course availability, once you have solidified your plans, you will need to contact your advisor or to schedule a virtual appointment with your advisor- visit: gsu.navigate.eab.com to set up an appointment where the transient request form will be filled out.

A: You can upload your documents via the Patient Portal from the Student Health Clinic’s website (https://health.gsu.edu/services/immunizations-travel/immunization-information/)
You can check the Panther Answer Page here: https://georgiastateuniversity.force.com/support/s/ for information about contacting the Student Accounts office. You can also submit a ticket and an Enrollment Services Specialist will provide you with a response within 24-48 hours.
Change of Major/Minor/Concentration
If you are a senior with 90 credits or more, please contact the front desk at 404-413-5000 (preferred) or you can send an email to [email protected] and include the following information: Full name, Panther ID number, reason for the appointment: major change from (current major) to (intended major), and a minimum of five date/time options. Each appointment is slotted for ½ hour and provided based on availability.
You will need to contact your academic advisor for your major to update or declare a minor or concentration for your program plan.
If you are currently a College of Arts and Sciences senior with 90 credits or more, please click on the link below and complete this form so that the College of Arts & Sciences can release you to your new college.
Change of College Request Form
Someone will contact you in order to complete the process.
If you do not have at least 90 credits, please contact your academic advisor at the University Advisement Center at 404-413-2300/2630.
Course Petitions
Using the CAS Course Petition form, https://cas.gsu.edu/undergraduate-course-petition/. Be prepared to do the following when submitting this form. 1) Provide information about the requirement you want the course to count towards which can be found on your academic evaluation assessable on your PAWS account. 2) Provide a link to the course description from the website of the institution in which it was taken.

Academic Dishonesty & Grade Appeals
The university’s Grade Appeal policy requires you to first contact your instructor to see if you two can work out the concern informally. Once you have discussed the grade with your instructor, and if you remain dissatisfied, you should contact the department chair to inquire about submitting a formal appeal. See department directory. A student’s appeal will be granted only if the student can prove by preponderance of evidence that a decision was arbitrary, discriminatory, or inequitable.
The appeal must be submitted within 10 business days of the beginning of the academic term (fall, spring, or the 7-week summer term) that follows the term in which the final grade was submitted by the instructor.

You can start looking as soon as you come to Georgia State, but most students should be looking seriously during year two and three. You can schedule some time to meet with an internship advisor or you can speak directly with your major department about ways to find internships that directly relate to your major and career goals.
