Georgia State University's Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) program offers a dynamic approach to understanding and applying technology to address real-world challenges. Unlike traditional Computer Science and Data Science programs that focus heavily on theoretical and mathematical foundations, the BIT curriculum emphasizes practical, hands-on learning.

The BIT program is also dedicated to fostering student retention and success in technology studies. It includes overlapping foundational coursework with Computer Science and Data Science, allowing students to seamlessly transition between these disciplines as their interests evolve.

Career Opportunities with a Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT)

The BIT program is designed for students aspiring to careers in technology services. The need for computing and information technology industry roles is high. Graduates of this program can apply for the following roles:

  • Database Administrators
  • Information Security Analysts
  • Network and Computer Administrators
  • Web Developers

In 2022, the median annual wage for these roles was $100,530.

Program Details

High School Seniors and Recent Graduates
If you’re a senior in high school or if you graduated from high school within the last two years, you’ll apply to begin your bachelor’s degree program using Georgia State’s Common Application.

International applicants are those students who are in the U.S. on a non-immigrant visa (B-1, H-1, J-1, etc.), students who are living outside the U.S. and who will require an F-1 visa to study in the United States, students who are in the process of applying for Permanent Residency status but have not yet received the Permanent Residency card or students who have been educated outside the U.S.

Students enrolled in this program will engage in career-oriented lab experiences, culminating in a two-semester Capstone Senior Design course that showcases their skills in real-world projects.
