Sharon Santmyer has been teaching ESL and EFL in several countries, including Australia, Thailand, Korea, and the United States, since 2003. In 2013, she began teaching in the Intensive English Program at Georgia State University, where she earned her master's in Applied Linguistics. In the classroom, she is an energetic teacher who is constantly looking for better ways to provide her students with the most optimal learning environment. She also enjoys attending and presenting at TESOL conferences to stay current on research and share her teaching ideas with other professionals. She specializes in teaching advanced academic writing, training both pre and in-service teachers, and directing special programs/projects. Her other interests are second language acquisition, curriculum development, and reflective teaching. Outside of work, she loves traveling, learning foreign languages, exploring new hiking trails, and spending time with her family.
