- Biography
Mathias Guerreiro-Aires is a Lecturer of French in the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Georgia State University. He currently serves as the Coordinator of the French Program, Coordinator of the French Lower Division, Director of French Internships, and French Club Advisor.
Since 2022, Prof. Guerreiro-Aires has designed and directed 35 internships for students of French with various companies and organizations in the Atlanta metro area. He has also invited over 80 students to various networking events where his students have met diplomats and executives from a wide array of industries and Fortune 500 companies.
Mathias Guerreiro-Aires specializes in world language education, French for specific purposes, and Francophone studies. His current research interests include world language internships, career readiness, employability, task-based language teaching, equity and social justice in world language education, and human rights in the French-speaking world. He has taught a wide range of courses, including Francophone Perspectives on Human Rights, Power, and Resistance; French for International Business I and II; Francophone Cinema; Advanced French Conversation and Composition; Intermediate French I and II; and Elementary French I and II.
In addition to his teaching and coordination roles, Prof. Guerreiro-Aires is also a senator in the University Senate where he serves on the Student Life Committee and Cultural Diversity Committee.
