Dr. Marta Galindo is an Academic Professional in the Department of World Languages & Cultures and the Director of the Center for International Resources & Collaborative Language Engagement (CIRCLE). She holds a Ph.D. in Second Language Studies with an emphasis in Applied Linguistics, an M.A. and a B.A. in Spanish, and a B.A. in Communications.
Dr. Galindo has 25 years of work experience in Spain's public and private sectors, where she formed and operated several private companies. She believes that using her education and business background in Europe and the U.S. enables her to understand and link education with real-world needs, which enables her to develop her courses with an emphasis on career readiness for her students, whether their goals include academic careers, careers in the private sector, or with non-profits or other NGOs.
Dr. Galindo’s research interests include the linguistic landscape, the economics of language, multilingualism, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and second language studies, which combine with her passion for technology, and the use of language learning technology to assist students in their acquisition of second language skills and language faculty in providing meaningful and engaging instruction to their students.
