- Biography
Jongwoo Jeong is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Georgia State University. His research investigates the causes and consequences of identities in American politics, leveraging advanced methods from computational social science, geo-spatial analysis, and causal inference. His work addresses topics such as race and ethnicity within the context of political polarization and immigration, the changing and persistent nature of party identification in the U.S., the intersectionality of race and gender, and the political geography of representation. Additionally, he develops political science research methodologies, including the application of computational social science, psychometrics, and geo-spatial analysis.
Prior to joining the faculty at GSU, he was a Research Fellow in the Department of Political Science and the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy at Washington University in St. Louis. He also served as a doctoral research fellow at the Public Policy Research Institute at Texas A&M University. Before coming to the U.S., he contributed to government-related projects for the Research Institute of Language and Information and the Department of Defense, Republic of Korea, as a professional research agent.
