Dr. Jamae Morris received her Ph.D. in applied anthropology from the University of South Florida in May 2012. Broadly stated, her research examines the complexities of race and health by investigating the distribution of disease and engaging in anthropological and public health research in black communities, domestically and internationally. Spanning various topic areas, her previous research has included considerations of health, behavior, education, and context. Her more recent projects cover a range of relevant health issues from evaluating the effectiveness of new technologies for reducing infant diarrhea and improving antenatal care in eastern Kenya to identifying social and cultural dynamics that impact the sexual health decision making of young black women in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Dr. Morris is committed to relevant scholarship that engages the community and reflects their experiences through the appropriate pairing of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
