Elizabeth Strickler is Senior Lecturer and Director of Entrepreneurship Programs in the Creative Media Industries Institute. To these roles, she brings a broad and robust background in both media and technology, leveraging her knowledge of the media industry with design, creativity, and technology to promote innovation and generate media for a variety of platforms. During her time at Georgia State University, she created the Window Project, the Cross Stitch Project and was Co-Principal Investigator on numerous grants, through innovative uses of media technology and experience design. The Window Project, an internationally curated, public new media installation space, screened nightly for five years, engaging audiences and enhancing downtown Atlanta. The Cross Stitch Project used digital media and network technology to help young women develop confident voices and share empowering stories. In addition, her documentaries, short films, and new media work have received national and international awards including PBS POV award and the Southern Circuit tour.
A passionate believer in creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, she uses her talents to support students to start businesses, tell better stories, and build a stronger cultural economy. She is excited to combine her knowledge of media technologies and her passions to continue exploring immersive media content with her colleagues and the Atlanta community. Through the Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) her visions will become reality and virtual reality.
She holds a BA in Philosophy, BS in Computer Science and an MFA in Digital Filmmaking and Art.
