- Biography
Dmitri Detwyler is a Lecturer and Associate Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Applied Linguistics at GSU. He regularly teaches courses in English language teaching and adjacent areas of applied linguistics as he helps MA students navigate the program and re-enter the world. This work is grounded in his research about the connections between teaching practices, language-teacher identities, and the social and historical contexts of global TESOL. He completed a PhD in TESL from the University of British Columbia, and before that, an MA in TESL from Pennsylvania State University. His interests were formed during a "first career" in English teaching, editing, and language consulting in Taiwan. He continues to study Mandarin and maintains cultural and professional connections across the Chinese-speaking world. He also loves cats.
