- Biography
David serves as the Department Specialist for Applied Linguistics and ESL. This role serves as an intermediary between the department and other units of the university. His duties include managing the daily office functions of the department, assisting with hiring and payments for non-faculty positions within the department, and processing orders and payments for the department. He serves as DSO for the Intensive English Program making sure that the program and students are compliant with SEVIS immigration regulations. Additionally, he is responsible for receiving, reviewing, processing, and issuing acceptance documents for incoming IEP students.
David completed his undergraduate degree in Applied Linguistics at Georgia State University in 2013. He then spent the next four years traveling and teaching abroad. He worked in Logroño, Spain for one year as a EFL teaching assistant in Spanish public schools before moving on to work with AMIDEAST in Sousse, Tunisia for three years where he taught EFL to students of all ages and abilities. The U.S. Embassy in Tunis recognized him for his contributions to the education and personal growth of Tunisian students in the English Access Micro-Scholarship Program in 2014. After returning to Georgia, David completed the MA program in Applied Linguistics at GSU in 2019. He has lived and traveled extensively in the Middle East and North Africa including Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia, and has lived and traveled within Europe and Latin America.
