Ancient Philosophy, Ancient Ethics and Epistemology

Research Interests

I specialize in ancient philosophy and am particularly interested in issues that lie at the intersection of ancient ethics and epistemology. My research investigates ancient accounts of ethical development and the relationship between virtue and knowledge. Currently, my main focus is on the treatment of these issues in the dialogues of Plato, and I have published papers from this project in Phronesis and Ancient Philosophy. I am also working on a series of papers that explores how the Stoics (and in particular Seneca) explain how agents develop concern for the good of others. Other philosophical interests include contemporary philosophy of education, ethics, and early modern philosophy.

At Georgia State I have been a committee member for MA theses on topics such as the nature of philosophy and theodicy in Plato's Timaeus.
