FACILITY USER GUIDELINES
As a research lab with the presence of chemicals and biological materials in the Imaging Core Facility, certain rules and policies as well as training are required for users accessing the facility.
Rules and Policies
Security Awareness Training
There are strict security protocols in place for personnel working or visiting floors 5-9 of the Petit Science Center (PSC). All individuals, including administrative staff, are required to complete the "Security Awareness Training" module annually. This training is necessary to ensure that authorized personnel are aware of the anti-tailgating rules and do not allow any unauthorized individuals to enter the floors or stairwells, even if they present a valid PantherCard. It is essential that all individuals gain access to these restricted areas using their own card access and do not allow anyone else to follow them without proper authorization. Compliance with these security protocols is important to maintain the safety and security of the building and its occupants.
Rules and Regulations
All users who have access to the Imaging Core Facility are responsible for ensuring that their activities comply with all relevant federal, state and university policies and follow safety measures required by the Office of Research and Environmental Safety (RES).
To access the official collection of institutional policies that affect the members of the university community across all colleges and divisions, please refer to the Georgia State policy library. However, please note that individual colleges, schools, divisions and departments of the University may have additional policies that govern their operations, which are not housed in the Georgia State policy library. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness oversees the policy management process. For more information about this process or to contact the Policy Administrator, visit the University Policies Contact page.
The Imaging Core Facility has established rules and policies for daily operation to ensure the safe and effective use of the expensive, shared core equipment. By only allowing fully trained users to operate the equipment with approval, the facility can ensure that users have the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain optimal data independently. Note, technical support is available during normal business hours. The policies also address safety issues, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe environment for all users. By following these guidelines, the Imaging Core Facility can ensure that the equipment is used safely and effectively and that all users are able to access and benefit from the facility's resources.
The rules and policies governing the use of the Imaging Core Facility can be found under the 'Documents' section. We highly recommend reviewing these policies before using the facility to ensure compliance with all guidelines and regulations.
