MEET THE EVENT STAFF

Torrez M. Wilson, MPA, CMP
Event Center Manager
Torrez Wilson is an event logistics and operations professional with over ten years of experience. He currently serves as conference and program services coordinator at Georgia State University, where he oversees the College of Arts and Sciences Event Center, plans College-level events and provides event management services to internal and external clients. Prior to Georgia State, he held positions in student affairs, enrollment management and hospitality management at Georgia Gwinnett College, Paine College, the University of Phoenix and a four-diamond luxury hotel. He is also a member of the Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors International, where he serves as chair of the Education Action Team.
Mr. Wilson earned a bachelor of arts degree in music and a master of public administration degree, both from Savannah State University. He has acquired the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential from the Events Industry Council as well as a certificate in hospitality and tourism management from Florida Atlantic University. He has been published in professional magazines, presented educational sessions at professional conferences, and served as a faculty member with the University of Phoenix. Torrez is also a graduate of the Gwinnett Young Professionals Leadership Institute and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in learning, leadership and organization development from the University of Georgia, where his research focuses on supervisor mentorship in developing career competencies and self-efficacy of undergraduate student employees.
A lover of the arts, Mr. Wilson is a classically-trained musician and has served in operations and production management positions with organizations such as the Augusta Symphony Orchestra, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, the Savannah Music Festival, and the City of Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs. Within the community, Torrez is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and is a past executive director and producer for the Miss Fulton County Scholarship Program. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Torrez currently resides in the Atlanta area and enjoys home improvement projects, traveling, thrill-seeking, and playing musical instruments.

Emmanuel Bassey
Event Services Specialist
Emmanuel Bassey is a Biology and Public Health student at Georgia State University. During his studies, he interned with NASA, working on growing food at Albany State University. Additionally, he serves as Vice-President of the Undergraduate Public Health Club at GSU, allowing further opportunities for health-related advancements within the community. Outside of academia, Emmanuel serves as an active volunteer for his local church, where he holds the title of Church Scholar. He seeks to use these experiences to encourage making a difference that will positively impact lives everywhere.

John Jose
Event Services Specialist
John Jose is an undergraduate at Georgia State University, pursuing a bachelor's degree in game design. He also serves as an event services specialist in the College of Arts & Sciences Event Center. Besides going to classes, he enjoys playing basketball, badminton, videogames, listening to hip-hop and cooking. After college, he hopes to find a job where he can help people in this world.

Logan Ridley
Event Services Specialist
Logan Ridley is a junior, political science major at Georgia State University from Roswell, GA. While at Georgia State, he has served as a student leader in the student government association for two administrations. During the 93rd administration, he served as a senator for the College of Arts & Sciences and he currently serves on the 94th administration as the communications director for the Atlanta Campus. After Logan graduates from Georgia State, he plans to attend law school. In his free time, he likes to workout, hangout with friends and sightsee.

Andres Zumaran
Event Services Specialist
Andres Zumaran is a Computer Science major at Georgia State University, where he aspires to become a software developer. He also works as an Event Services Specialist in the College of Arts and Sciences. His hobbies include videogames, piano, anime, and fashion. He is known for being a great problem solver, fluent in English and Spanish, a team player as well as a leader. Born and raised in Metro-Atlanta, Andres lives by two main philosophies; making the world better than he found it, and seeing things not for what they are, but what they could be.
