MEET THE EVENT STAFF

Torrez M. Wilson, Ed.D, CMP
Event Center Manager
Dr. Torrez M. Wilson is an event logistics and operations professional with over ten years of experience in higher education. He currently serves as conference and program services coordinator at Georgia State University, where he oversees the College of Arts and Sciences Event Center, plans College-level events and provides event management services to internal and external clients. Prior to Georgia State, he held positions in student affairs, enrollment management and hospitality management at organizations such as Georgia Gwinnett College, Paine College, the University of Phoenix and a four-diamond luxury hotel. He is also a member of the Association of Collegiate Conference and Events Directors International (ACCED-I), where he served as chair of the Education Action Team (2021-2024).
Dr. Wilson earned a bachelor of arts degree in music and a master of public administration degree, both from Savannah State University. He earned a doctor of education degree in learning, leadership and organization development from the University of Georgia. He has acquired the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) credential from the Events Industry Council as well as a certificate in hospitality and tourism management from Florida Atlantic University. He has been published in professional magazines, presented educational workshops around the country, and has served as a faculty member with the University of Phoenix. Torrez is also a graduate of the Gwinnett Young Professionals Leadership Institute and his research focuses on supervisor mentorship in developing career competencies and self-efficacy of undergraduate student employees.
A lover of the arts, Dr. Wilson is a classically-trained musician and has served in operations and production management positions with organizations such as the Augusta Symphony Orchestra, the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, the Savannah Music Festival, and the City of Savannah's Department of Cultural Affairs. Within the community, Torrez is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and is a past executive director and producer for the Miss Fulton County Scholarship Program. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Torrez currently resides in the Atlanta area and enjoys home improvement projects, traveling, thrill-seeking, and playing musical instruments.

Christopher Forbes
Event Services Specialist
Christopher Forbes is a Computer Science major at Georgia State University and he also works as an Event Services Specialist in the College of Arts and Sciences. His hobbies include physical sports, reading, hiking, and exploring. He is known for being a creative and critical thinker. Born and raised in New York, Christopher relocated to Georgia to complete the pursuit of his college degree.

John Jose
Event Services Specialist
John Jose is an undergraduate student at Georgia State University, where he is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems. In addition to his academic pursuits, John serves as an Event Services Specialist in the College of Arts & Sciences Event Center, where he contributes to the planning and execution of various events. His diverse interests include playing basketball and badminton, engaging in video gaming, listening to hip-hop music, and experimenting with cooking. John is passionate about leveraging his skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in the world and aspires to pursue a career that allows him to help others effectively.

Jhondeka Joseph
Event Services Specialist
Jhondeka Joseph is an undergraduate student at Georgia State University, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Administration. She serves as an Event Services Specialist for the College of Arts & Sciences Event Center and is the President of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH) Student Chapter.
Her experience includes an internship as an Event Concierge Coordinator at Omni Atlanta Hotel and volunteering with organizations like the Savannah Bananas and the Allie Awards. She has also attended several hospitality-focused business conferences, expanding her expertise in the field.
In her free time, Jhondeka enjoys reading, working out, and shopping.

Andres Zumaran
Event Services Specialist
Andres Zumaran is a Computer Science major at Georgia State University, where he aspires to become a software developer. He also works as an Event Services Specialist in the College of Arts and Sciences. His hobbies include videogames, piano, anime, and fashion. He is known for being a great problem solver, fluent in English and Spanish, a team player as well as a leader. Born and raised in Metro-Atlanta, Andres lives by two main philosophies; making the world better than he found it, and seeing things not for what they are, but what they could be.
