The Confocal Lab Manager, Ms. Claudia Sanabria, decided to retire on 09/18/2024 after working in the Imaging Core Facility for 15+ years. Ms. Sanabria has been taking outstanding care of the confocal microscopes in the facility and the users. She trained numerous users (students, postdocs, and faculty) over the years for countless research projects that these researchers were working on, and images acquired on the confocal microscopes are used in a significant number of scientific publications. She received the “Rising to the Challenge Award” in 2023, presented and recognized by Dean Rosen at the awards ceremony during the Arts & Sciences Staff meeting for her excellence and dedication to the Imaging Core Facility, especially to the confocal facility and users.
We (many students, staff, faculty, and I) are sad to see her depart from GSU's Imaging Core, but we are happy about her new chapter and stress-free retirement life.
Confocal training on the LSM700, LSM780, and LSM980 with Airyscan 2 will be suspended until further notice.
All confocal-related matters should be directed to Dr. Kuangcai Chen ([email protected]) until her position is filled.
