The light microscopy training will cover the basic imaging formation principles as well as provide hands-on experience on how to optimize the widefield light microscopes for different applications. Samples such as nanoparticles, cells, tissues, mineral thin sections, etc. will be used in the training. Students are also welcome to bring their own samples of interest for the training if it is possible to be imaged on the microscopes. Different imaging modes, including brightfield, darkfield, phase contrast, differential interference contrast, polarized light, and epi-fluorescence imaging modes will be introduced to the trainees. The training will take place in PSC835. Students who are interested in the training can contact Dr. Kuangcai Chen ([email protected]) for more details.
This microscopy training opportunity can prepare students for their future careers in academia and in the industry as training in modern microscopy is a transferrable and marketable skill. This training is financially supported by Student Technology Fee (FY21, 21-IST 006 and FY22, 22-IST 007).
