As a sophomore at Georgia State University, Avneet Sethi is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Avneet was accepted as a Fellow in Rewriting the Code, which is an organization that connects women in CS with internship opportunities, career resources, mentors, and a community of inspiring women excelling in the field. The fellowship program selected hundreds of students from universities all over the nation to provide them with the support and tools they need to launch their careers. She is also a recipient of the Zell Miller Scholarship. She is researching in Network Security and Privacy with Dr. Wei Li as a University Assistant, learning the applications of algorithms in securing communication channels through cryptography.
She was recognized as Gwinnett County’s Career and Technical Education Student of the Year for her participation in several web and mobile app development competitions in high school, including TAG-Ed’s Health IT Student Innovation Award, FBLA’s Website Design, and the Verizon Innovative App Challenge. Avneet also designed Meadowcreek High School’s mobile app, which currently connects hundreds of students, parents, and teachers with upcoming events, students’ accomplishments, and resources.
In 2016, Avneet interned at Cisco through their STEM Student Technology Program, where she learned about Wi-Fi, the Internet of Everything (IoE), and Network Security and Collaboration.
After graduating, Avneet aspires to work as a software developer. She is applying to several internships and research programs to build her knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and computer networks.
