Spring 2017 Commencement
The 2017 Spring Commencements for College of Arts and Science undergraduate students will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in the Georgia Tech McCamish Pavilion. A college Commencement for master’s students will be held on the afternoon of May 3 in the Student Center Ballroom.
Commencement at Georgia State University is a celebration of student achievement that spans the first week and a half of May. Associate, bachelor’s and graduate degree candidates, as well as Ph.D. candidates, will be recognized at ceremonies that will take place at various venues between May 3 and May 12.
Because of the pending demolition of the Georgia Dome, Georgia’s State’s commencement site for the past nine years, the university must move the ceremony for bachelor’s candidates to the McCamish Pavilion at the Georgia Institute of Technology this year. The commencement ceremonies for College of Arts and Science undergraduate students will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. The ceremony for degree candidates with last names A – L will take place at 10 a.m. and degree candidates with last names M – Z will take place at 4 p.m. Candidates will be recognized individually on the stage of the pavilion.
Master’s degree students will be recognized by the colleges at on May 3 in the Student Center Ballroom (33 Gilmer St.). The event begins at 2 p.m. (student check in at 1 p.m.). The hooding ceremony for Ph.D. candidates will be on May 10 at 7 p.m. in the Rialto Center.
